I Made Everything Harder Than It Needed to Be

I Made Everything Harder Than It Needed to Be

For a long time, I really thought the answer was somewhere in the next diet.

I tried cutting carbs. Then cutting more. I tried eating very little. I tried making salads the whole meal. I tried plans that sounded convincing because they were strict, and strict felt serious.

Then I’d add exercise on top of it and push harder there too.

I could always make myself do something extreme for a little while.

The problem was living that way.

Eventually I got tired of constantly feeling like I was either “on” or “off.”

Healthy or not healthy.

Doing well or starting over again.

What finally helped was much less dramatic than anything I had tried before.

I started making changes I could actually repeat.

Walking was enough.

Then I walked more.

I added mobility because it made me feel better.

I paid more attention to whole foods, fish, nuts, simple meals that felt normal instead of “diet food.”

If I ordered out, I didn’t tell myself I had ruined anything. Sometimes I just ate less of it.

Later, I started ordering out less because I didn’t need it as often.

There was no big moment where everything changed.

It was more like my life slowly started looking different.

And that mattered more.

Somewhere along the way, the whole thing got easier because I wasn’t fighting myself anymore.

Food became food again. Exercise became something I actually wanted in my life. The routines started fitting around me instead of me constantly trying to force myself into them.

That’s when it finally started to feel sustainable.

Not perfect or dramatic.

Just normal enough to keep doing.

I think that’s what I had been missing all along.

I kept looking for a plan strong enough to change me.

What I really needed was a life simple enough to keep.
